A Product Check is shown to the operator on an instruction step, and the operator gives the answer the check asks for. To add a check:
- Navigate to the work instruction step where you would like to add a check into, and click Open.
- Click the Check tab.
- Select one of the available basic or advanced checks.
General options
Under General options on the Check tab, you can set the following. Which options you can change depends on the type of check, and the Print and Email checks have none.
- Show the N/A (not applicable) option: adds an N/A answer. Available for the OK/NOK, Yes/No, Number, Single Line, Paragraph, Masked Input, Barcode, Pictures, and Files checks.
- Needs confirmation before proceeding: the operator has to confirm the answer before it is saved. You can turn this on or off for the OK/NOK, Yes/No, and Single Choice checks. Most other checks that take a value always ask for confirmation.
- Required to be filled in before proceeding to next instruction step: the operator must answer the check before moving on. Operators with sidebar access can still skip ahead. This also makes the check required before finishing.
- Required to be filled in before finishing work instruction: the operator can skip the check but cannot finish the work instruction without answering it. See Mandatory Product Checks.
- Required to be valid when filled in: only a valid answer can be saved. You can turn this on or off for the Number, Slider, Single Choice, Single Line, and Paragraph checks.
- Optional message when invalid: the message the operator sees when the answer is not valid. Available for the OK/NOK, Yes/No, and Single Choice checks once an invalid answer is blocked.
Some checks also have a Parameter options section, see Use a parameter in a Product Check, and a double-check option, see Double-checks.
