How to Add a Variant and Use It in a Work Instruction

Creating a New Variant

1. Navigate to an existing work instruction step where you would like to add a new variant into.
2. Click the tab Variants.
3. Click Add variant.
4. Enter the name of the variant and select the color.
5. Click Link new variant.

Linking an Existing Variant To A Work Instruction

If a variant has already been created within another work instruction, you can also link it to another work instruction. Linking an existing variant to a work instruction can be done in the following way:

1. Navigate to the work instruction that you would like to link with an existing variant.
2. Click the tab Variants.
3. Click Add variant.
4. Click Select existing variants.
5. Select the desired variant.
6. Click Link selected variants.

Linking an Existing Variant To A Work Instruction Step

1. Navigate to the work instruction step that you would like to link with an existing variant.
2. Click the tab Variants.
3. Click the grid at the level of an instruction step in the box under the variant name. This step will only be displayed when this variant is active when the work instruction is executed.
4. If you wish an instruction step to be displayed regardless of the variant, click Always in the grid for a particular instructional step.
