Beta feature. Offline Product Orders are currently in beta and may still evolve. This feature is currently available by opt-in only. If you do not see the Offline tab described below and would like to try it, reach out to your Azumuta contact to have Offline Product Orders enabled for your account.
Planned product orders can be run on the device app without a constant network connection. Once an order has been downloaded to the device, the operator keeps working through connection drops, and everything they do (recordings, measurements, checks) syncs back to the server automatically when connectivity returns. This brings product orders in line with audits and trainings, which already work offline using the same mechanism.
Note: finishing a product order still requires connectivity.
How Offline Mode Works
-
The device pre-downloads the content you select on the Offline tab. A connection is still required the first time a specific order is started, to cache its product, recording, and media bundle on the device.
-
The connection can drop at any time during execution. An order made available offline stays fully accessible, so the operator keeps working without interruption.
An order that was not made available offline is greyed out and can't be opened until the connection returns.
-
When the connection returns, the recorded data syncs back automatically.
While offline, an order you've recorded data on shows a sync-pending icon in place of the lock icon, until that data syncs back:
How to Make Product Orders Available Offline
Content becomes available offline in two ways.
On demand, for a single order: from the product order list, click the ⋮ (three-dot) icon next to a planned order and select Make available offline.
Automatically, per device: offline availability can also be set per device, on the device's Offline tab.
- Open Devices and select the device you want to set up.
- Open the Offline tab.
- Under Make content available offline automatically, tick Products. You can also tick Work instructions and Audits on the same tab.
- Under Content, choose the folders or work instructions whose planned product orders should download automatically. Use Days before today and Days after today to set the date window around today (up to 31 days each).
- Save. The device's Settings screen now shows Offline (Enabled).
On the device, the operator can use Force sync all offline available data from Settings to pull the latest content before entering a low-connectivity area.
Restrictions to Keep in Mind
- A connection is required the first time an order is started, because the product, recording, and media bundle download at that moment. An order cannot be started for the first time while offline.
- Clearing offline data on the device removes stored content, including results that have not yet synced. Do not use Clear all offline available data while un-synced data is on the device.
- Offline results appear in reports and dashboards only after they sync.
- Finishing an order requires connectivity.
