How to Choose the Parameter Value Type
There are 3 available parameter value types. Each of them has their own specific use:
- Text (the parameter value can only display letters and symbols – it can’t display numbers). This parameter value type is commonly used to display an article’s qualitative characteristics (e.g., its color, material, etc.).
- Number (the parameter value can only display numbers – it can’t display letters or symbols. To perform calculations with parameters, you will need to choose this parameter value type). This parameter value type is commonly used to display an article’s quantitative characteristics (e.g., it’s length, weight, etc.).
- True/False (the parameter value displays either true or false). This parameter value type is commonly used to answer a yes/no question (e.g., “does this item contain any hazardous material?”).
By default, a newly created parameter will have Text as its default parameter value type. However, you can change it. Here’s how to choose the parameter value type of a parameter:
- Click Quality Management in the homepage sidebar.
